Walked the Camino Cheque Presentation

Walked the Camino Cheque Presentation

Last week we were honoured to be presented with cheques from two groups who both Walked the Camino last year and raised money for us!

Lisa O’ Mahony raised a massive €2,600 for us while Sisters/sisters in law Angela Enright, Sandra O Callaghan, Noreen Houlihan and Maura Hanrahan raised a whopping €2,800!

We are very humbled by their support for the organisation and cannot thank enough them for their efforts and indeed, thank those who supported both groups!

Frank O Connor Retirement

Frank O Connor Retirement

Earlier this month Frank O Connor retired from Ballybunion Sea & Cliff Rescue having spent 37 years serving the community.

Frank was one of the original members who attended the first meeting back in 1986 and he held various positions including PRO and Chairman during his service. Instrumental in the development of our first aid side of the service, Frank secured the first two defibrillators for the town back in 2005 for use by us.

When we build, we build on the shoulders of those that came before us. And to this end, Frankie was made an Honorary member immediately upon his retirement to acknowledge the tremendous time, effort and service he has put into the organisation since its inception.

If you can, listen to Radio Kerry today (22nd January 2024) at 2pm when he will be on with Deirdre Walsh on Talkabout.

The Christmas Day Plunge

The Christmas Day Plunge

The two week countdown has started to one of the most important days in our calendar…..the Christmas Day Plunge!

Kicking off with the launch of a flare at 12:30, the dash to the water line and a quick plunge into the sea is just what you need to kick start a great Christmas Day!
As usual we’ll have some sweet treats and hot drinks at the station before and after the plunge to warm people up! If you are taking part in the plunge, sponsorship cards can be gotten by calling Mike on 087 9502167 or by emailing ballybunionrescue@gmail.com. And of course, we always urge people to bring someone new to enjoy the craic with them!

Even if you don’t want to swim, call down and soak up some of the Christmas fun!
